SMART Volunteering_Learner Pack- NGOs

Detailed description of the activity Skills for Development Learners complete a worksheet to recognise what skills they feel they need to develop, individually, as an organisation, of those of a migrant woman; this is followed by a Group discussion. Learners will be asked to fill in the worksheet wheel of skills, to identify the skills of migrant women, a volunteer, or a particular organisation (tailor to the participants attending). Step One: Write down 8 skills (soft or hard) that need improvement. Step Two: Mark on which line from 1 to 5 as to how confident you are in the skill at present. Step Three: Join the dots to create a spider web. Step Four: Assess which skills need the most development and plan goals and targets from these. From this activity, learners can discuss who can help develop the skills they have identified, what training is needed and to put a timescale to show when they may start this development.
